GETTYSBURG FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES MAKES A DONATION TO THE GETTYSBURG COMMUNITY SOUP KITCHEN
On the website for the International Fraternal Order of Eagles there is a quote, “An Organization that Never Stops Giving.” That is certainly true of the Gettysburg Fraternal Order of Eagles, which donated over $230,000 to local charities last year. The Gettysburg Community Soup Kitchen was one of the grateful recipients; receiving a contribution of $15,000 from the Gettysburg FOE.
Eagle board member Marty Slagle, seen at the far right of the photograph, told Kathleen Redding of the Soup Kitchen that he hand delivers all the Eagle contribution checks to the community agencies they support. Marty explained to Kathleen that the basis of the Eagles is to give back to the community and to help neighbors in need.
The Gettysburg Community Soup Kitchen’s guests will greatly benefit from the generosity of the Gettysburg Eagles with the continued serving of hot, nutritious mid-day meals every day of the year as well as the availability of free health checks, referrals to housing and job search services, and groceries to supplement their home pantries.
The Gettysburg Fraternal Order of Eagles is part of an international non-profit organization that has been in existence over a century. There are over 1600 FOE location throughout North America and together they raise nearly $10 million a year. The Gettysburg FOE is located at 61 North Fifth Street, Gettysburg PA 17325.
